Employment Verification

Verifications are obtained through contact with a supervisor or through the Human Resources Department of employers for the past five years, or the last three employers, whichever is longest (domestic and/or international).

Information regarding the name of the employer, address, dates employed, last salary, job title(s), job performance, reason for leaving, eligibility for rehire, and other pertinent job-related details are included as available.

Our Date Scan function automatically arranges, in chronological order, all the reported dates obtained from former employers. We are then able to determine gaps in employment of 30 days or more and identify partial and full overlap periods. If a gap of 6 months or more is discovered during the most recent 10 years, a professional reference letter or other suitable documentation to demonstrate the candidate’s whereabouts during the gaps will be obtained.

Current employers are only contacted with the applicant’s permission. For both current and previous employers, the A-Check America Verifications Department initiates all contact and every attempt is logged, and reported via A-Check DirectTM.

Three attempts are made everyday, per file component, and the employer is given a toll free number to facilitate return calls to A-Check. There is no pre-set limit on the number of verification attempts or methods.

If the employer cannot be contacted or is no longer in existence, supporting documentation from the candidate, such as pay stubs, tax records, and W-2s that demonstrate employment will be obtained.

Each of our customers has a list of concerns, unique to their industry that must be addressed before a hiring decision is made. Therefore, all employment verifications include as many as five (5) client-customized questions at no additional fee.
