Data Backup Practices
Data from A-Check's servers is replicated every 90 seconds to our co-location in Burbank. Every five minutes, the Burbank co-location backs up any changes to the database. In addition, complete system backups are performed daily and weekly, and stored on fresh tapes.
Tape backups are transported by courier to a secure offsite storage location, thus ensuring the integrity of data in case of a catastrophe.
All major computer systems contain built-in redundancy (T-1 line) to prevent system and equipment failure. Redundant equipment is also set aside for replacement of backed any failed components, available for emergency exchange.
All of A-Check's computer systems are backed up nightly at 1:00am PST. Therefore, no information will ever be lost in case of blackouts or other kinds of electronic failures. Systems are ghosted for future system configuration.
A-Check America supports and follows the following back-up and recovery procedures:
- Backup of All Computer Systems - All of A-Check's system data is backed up on a daily and weekly basis. Any changed data is backed up daily using a different tape. These daily tapes are recycled every 15 days. Weekly tapes are recycled every 3 months.
- Off-site Backup Solution - A-Check's backup tapes are stored offsite in a secure location, ready for retrieval in case the disaster recovery plan needs to be implemented.
- SAN/Raid-5 Technology - All of A-Check‘s major computer systems and critical components are configured as Raid-5 and are backed up daily.
- Private Frame Relay Services - Since A-Check's network is built on private frame relay services only, its secure Enterprise Network prevents intrusion from outside elements.
- Secure Proxy Servers and Cisco Pix Firewall Product - Internet connection points are limited to secure proxy services and firewalls, such as Cisco Pix Firewall product.
- Encryption Technology - Encryption technologies also are deployed in appropriate areas to ensure protection of sensitive and confidential information.
